Alumni Recognized for Career Success and Commitment to Fisher

On Saturday, Sept. 19, graduates of the University gathered to recognize recipients of the Dean’s Medals and the Ten Under 10 Awards at the Alumni Awards Brunch during Alumni Weekend.
The Alumni Awards honor 15 graduates whose dedication and impact go beyond campus and into the communities where they live and work. The Dean's Medal recipients and Ten Under 10 honorees were chosen for their career accomplishments, personal achievements, and commitment to their alma mater.
“Each recipient has achieved much in their careers, some still early in those careers and some more seasoned, and it is both a privilege and a point of pride to recognize them today,” said Dr. Gerard Rooney, president of the University.
Dean’s Medal
Each of Fisher's five deans selected an alumnus or alumna whose professional accomplishments are matched by a deep commitment to St. John Fisher University. Through their leadership, service, mentorship, and philanthropy, these individuals have strengthened their professions while remaining connected to the Fisher community and the values of the Fisher Creed.
Dr. James Hurny ’11Ed.D., Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. School of Education
Hurny earned his Doctor of Education in Executive Leadership from the University in 2011, adding to an already impressive academic and professional journey that began with a degree in electrical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. Following military service during the Vietnam War, he embarked on a successful engineering career with Eastman Kodak, where he worked on numerous advanced technology initiatives throughout a career spanning more than three decades.
After retiring from Kodak, Hurny began a second career in higher education as faculty at RIT, where he taught electrical, computer, and telecommunications engineering. In the classroom, he shared both technical expertise and real-world experience with his students, helping to prepare the next generation of engineers and innovators.
He continued his commitment to education by earning his doctorate at Fisher. He remains closely connected to the executive leadership program, serving on dissertation committees and lending his expertise to support doctoral candidates. He also previously served on the School of Education’s Dean’s Advisory Council, helping guide the future of our programs and students.
Frank B. Iacovangelo, Esq. ’62, School of Arts and Sciences
Iacovangelo earned his Bachelor of Arts in English from Fisher before continuing his education at The Catholic University of America, where he earned his law degree. In 1971, Iacovangelo co-founded Gallo & Iacovangelo, LLP, helping build one of Rochester's most respected law firms. Throughout his career, he has provided trusted counsel in estate planning, estate administration, litigation, and real estate law while earning the respect of clients and colleagues across Western New York. He also helped establish Faber Builders, a company whose developments have shaped communities throughout the Rochester region.
Iacovangelo’s success has always been inspired by service. He has served as Monroe County Public Administrator, volunteered on numerous boards, and devoted his time to causes that strengthen both educational and faith-based communities. At Fisher, he served on the Board of Trustees and has remained an active and engaged alumnus for decades.
William Shaheen ’76, School of Business
Shaheen earned his accounting degree from Fisher and has served as president and CEO of Whitney & Company in 1995, where he has led the firm with a philosophy centered on trust, integrity, and putting clients first. Under Shaheen’s leadership, Whitney & Company has grown into one of the region's most respected financial advisory firms. Over the course of his career, he has helped individuals, families, and organizations navigate complex financial decisions while fostering a culture of trust. His work has earned recognition throughout the profession, including being named to the Rochester Business Journal Banking and Finance Power List and induction into the Aquinas Institute Hall of Fame.
Shaheen has provided leadership to organizations including Episcopal Senior Living, Heritage Christian Services, and Aquinas Institute, dedicating his time and talents to strengthening the community.
Susan Osborn ’94, ’04M.S., Wegmans School of Nursing
As a nontraditional student, Osborn earned her undergraduate nursing degree while working full-time and raising a family as a single mother. She then earned a master’s degree in advanced practice nursing with a career focused on patient-centered care and professional leadership. Over more than three decades in healthcare, Osborn has served patients in emergency medicine, critical care, family practice, and specialty care settings. Her work has taken her from Rochester to Texas and now Arizona, where she continues to practice as a board-certified family nurse practitioner.
Beyond clinical practice, she has served as president of both the New York Nurse Practitioner Association and the El Paso Advanced Practice Nurses organization, advocated for the advancement of nurse practitioners, and contributed to the education of future healthcare providers.
Alexander DeLucenay ’07, ’10Pharm.D., Wegmans School of Pharmacy
DeLucenay’s connection to Fisher spans more than two decades as an alumnus, faculty member, clinician, mentor, and servant leader. He came to Fisher as an undergraduate student, earning his bachelor's degree in biology in 2007, and was the first student admitted to the Wegmans School of Pharmacy after its founding. As a member of the School of Pharmacy’s first graduating class in 2010, his career in the profession has focused on advancing patient care and educating future pharmacists. Today, he serves as an associate professor in the School, where he is known for his dedication to students and his passion for developing compassionate healthcare professionals.
As a board-certified ambulatory care pharmacist, DeLucenay has focused his career on improving outcomes for patients living with chronic diseases. Through his clinical practice at Rochester Regional Health, he works as part of interdisciplinary healthcare teams to help patients manage conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart failure.
DeLucenay also serves as program director for the PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency, helping prepare the next generation of pharmacy practitioners, teachers, and leaders. Through both clinical education and classroom instruction, he has influenced countless students and residents during their professional journeys.

Chelsey Litto ’16
Litto earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and currently serves as a registered nurse at Upstate Medical Center. As a certified pediatric emergency nurse and trauma nurse, Litto has dedicated her career to providing compassionate, high-quality care for both pediatric and adult patients while actively mentoring new nurses navigating high-intensity environments. She has continued to invest in her professional growth by pursuing her degree as a family nurse practitioner. Her repeated DAISY Award nominations and hospital recognition awards reflect the lasting impact she has on patients, colleagues, and the healthcare community.
Erin Townsend ’16
Townsend earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology and has become a leader in health care with her dedication to clinical excellence and innovative mentorship. During medical school, she founded a Wilderness in Medicine program, introducing hands-on training for managing care in non-traditional environments. She went on to serve as chief resident during her third year of emergency medicine residency and was named Fellow of the Year during her Resuscitation and Emergency Critical Care Fellowship. At Saratoga Hospital, she works as an emergency medicine physician while also serving as per-diem faculty at Albany Medical Center where she continues contributing to resident education in emergency critical care.
Mallory Douglas ’16
Douglas earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and currently serves as a triage nurse at Weill Cornell Medicine, where she connects clinical education with long-term career growth. Douglas is deeply proud of her leadership growth through her work becoming a charge nurse, ECMO-trained clinician, and spearheading the creation of a mentorship program which both elevates the standard of patient care and fosters a resilient and connected nursing community.
In 2021, Douglas received the Helen Henry Excellence of Care Award from Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing for developing an evidence-based quality improvement project. She serves as a clinical instructor for Hunter College and St. John Fisher University, teaching in Fisher’s Glover-Crask Simulation Center.
Matthew Keeler ’16
Keeler earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Management and has founded two influential brands in the ice hockey community, Just Dishin and Skateskins. Building a Buffalo-based fashion label, Keeler has skillfully bridged the worlds of sports, lifestyle, and design. His forward-thinking vision for Just Dishin has sparked brand collaborations with major industry giants like New Era Cap, the Chicago Blackhawks, and the Buffalo Sabres. Keeler expanded his footprint with SkateSkins, which celebrated a monumental milestone when the custom skate covers made their official NHL debut with the Philadelphia Flyers this past season.
Dr. Chastity Murray ’06, ’08M.S, ’17Ed.D.
Murray, a proud triple Cardinal, graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling, and a Doctor of Education in Executive Leadership. She is a nationally certified mental health counselor and provides in-person and online therapy to teens and adults.
In addition to her private practice, she is a professor at D’Youville University and an adjunct professor at SUNY Geneseo. Previously, Murray served as program director at Villa of Hope, where she led the development and launch of an inpatient detoxification program serving individuals aged 16 and older, making it one of the few regional programs equipped to support youth with this level of need.
Diana Meyer ’18
Since graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communication, Meyer has built a dynamic career centered on sales leadership, community advocacy, and empowering others. Currently serving as an executive retirement sales representative at Paychex, Meyer has achieved extraordinary success in her field. In fiscal year 2026, she was named the Paychex 401(k) Rookie of the Year after generating over $653,000 in sales and reaching a staggering 614% of her quota.
Beyond her professional achievements, she has traveled more than 25,000 miles across the country to complete 200 volunteer projects in partnership with organizations like the Girl Scouts, Girls on the Run, Give Kids the World Village, the USO, The Miracle Field, and Jazz90.1, where she led an initiative collecting over 1,000 radios for dementia patients.
Ehren Strohm ’18, ’26M.S.
Strohm, a proud Double Cardinal, earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and her Master of Science in Nursing, and has passed the AANP boards to become a family nurse practitioner. She received the 2026 Distinguished Student Award from the University that recognizes outstanding leadership, service, and contributions to the nursing profession. She co-founded Ending Healthcare Violence Together and co-created Voices Against Healthcare Violence, providing essential support, resources, and guidance to clinicians navigating trauma. Beyond her clinical work, Strohm has become a voice for healthcare workers on a national level. She was selected for the American Association of Colleges of Nursing 2026 GNSA Visionary Leader Award in Washington, D.C., and participated in the AACN Student Policy Summit, speaking to hundreds of nursing students and leaders.
Joy Snyder Pharm.D. ’18Pharm.D., ’21MPH
Snyder, a proud Double Cardinal, earned her Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Public Health from Fisher. Snyder made history as Monroe County’s first chief pharmacist, where she was instrumental in managing the county’s COVID-19 vaccine efforts and in creating a database for their drug overdose response team.
She has earned her Board Certification in Ambulatory Care Pharmacy, advanced oncology research at the University of Rochester Medical Center, where she currently serves as a clinical research pharmacist. Additionally, she started a pharmacy consulting business where she partners with CPESN-NY to develop standing orders for their vaccine efforts. Snyder advocates for her field by serving as president of the Pharmacists Society of Rochester and a board member for the New York State Public Health Association. She has received recognition for professional leadership and service including the Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award, Public Health Works Honor Roll Award, and selection for Leadership Rochester.
MacGregor Winegard, ’22
Winegard earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Economics with a minor in computer science, and has quickly distinguished himself as a rising leader in technology consulting, advancing to senior associate AI engineer at PwC, where he leads teams developing innovative artificial intelligence solutions for major organizations. His sharp technical proficiency led to an early promotion in 2023, alongside earning multiple professional certifications across several technology platforms. That same year, he showcased his expertise on a global stage as the youngest speaker at the 2023 Databricks Data and AI Summit.
Miriam Moore ’25Ed.D.
Moore serves as chief diversity officer for the Town of Brighton, where she has brought strategic vision, empathy, and institutional transformation to local government. She is passionate about making a lasting impact on her community by providing local decision-makers with the tools and insight necessary to lead with equity and inclusion. Moore recently joined St. John Fisher University’s Alumni Board of Directors.
