Michaelhouse Hall houses approximately 50 upperclass students in single rooms. It is also home to Sono Grill and the Gaming Lab.

Room Features

Avg. Room Size (Single Rooms): 10' x 13'
Heating/Cooling: Building wide heating, no air conditioning.
Furniture: One twin extra-long bed, desk, desk chair, dresser per resident.
Lighting: Overhead lighting
Bed & Mattress: Mattresses are twin extra-long (80" long and 37" wide). Beds may be bunked; however, lofting is not permitted. An un-lofted bed is fully adjustable, allowing the bed to be off the floor between 10" – 30".

Room Set-Up

Bed Lofting

Lofting is when beds are raised up on an extra set of bed frames. Due to a limited supply of extra bed frames, beds may not be lofted in single and double rooms; however, the height of each bed is adjustable. Although the beds are not lofted, they will be set to the highest adjustment permitted by the manufacturer (approximately 30 in. high). This is the most common furniture set-up that students request. Students should never adjust beds on their own, but the University is happy to adjust furniture and ensure it is done safely and without damaging furniture.

Bed Bunking

Although beds may not be lofted, bunking is permitted in all residence halls with the exception of Murray Hall. Students should never bunk beds on their own, but the University is happy to adjust furniture and ensure it is done safely and without damaging furniture.

Furniture Setup & Adjustment

Facilities Services will be available in the residence halls on move-in day to assist students who wish to adjust their bed height or move furniture. After move-in day, students may request room furniture adjustments by submitting a Facilities Work Order within the first 6 weeks of each semester.

Bed Safety Rails

In addition to lowering beds from their standard height, bed safety rails are available by request. To request a safety rail, please let Residential Life staff know on move-in day, or submit a Facilities Work Order after move-in day.
