OSP drives innovation and academic excellence by providing comprehensive support for securing and managing grants.

Through proactive identification of funding opportunities, expert guidance in proposal development, and robust post-award support, OSP fosters a collaborative and accountable research environment that advances the university's mission and enhances the scholarly and professional growth of its faculty and students.

Mission

The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) supports research, scholarly work, programmatic, and capital grants that advance the mission of St. John Fisher University. OSP provides comprehensive guidance throughout the life cycle of a grant, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation.

Scope of Work

The Office of Sponsored Programs partners with faculty and staff to:

  1. Identify Funding Opportunities:
    • Proactively seek project-appropriate funding sources, including federal, state, and professional association grants.
    • Support efforts to increase and expand scholarship and research.
  2. Develop and Submit Proposals:
    • Support best-practices in writing narratives and supplementary documents.
    • Design budgets that align with allowable expenses and project objectives.
    • Offer education and training in project development and design.
    • Lead the internal approval process for grant submission to sponsoring agencies.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with university, state, and federal regulations.
  3. Post-Award Support:
    • Provide comprehensive support for grant management, including budget support and compliance checks, for the entire life-cycle of an award.
    • Facilitate the communication of grant awards to the campus community.

The Office of Sponsored Programs is jointly responsible for data collection, analysis, and submission to the NSF Higher Education Research and Development (HERD) Survey along with the Controller’s Office.
