Dr. Hutchinson received his Pharm.D. from the University at Buffalo in 2006 after earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology from St. John Fisher University. He completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at The Ohio State University Medical Center and a PGY-2 Pediatric Pharmacy Practice Residency at the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers. In 2008, Dr. Hutchinson joined the faculty at the Wegmans School of Pharmacy at St. John Fisher University, where he currently serves as Assistant Dean for Assessment and Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice.
Prior to assuming his role as Assistant Dean, Dr. Hutchinson spent 18 years as a faculty member based at Golisano Children’s Hospital at the University of Rochester Medical Center, where he precepted St. John Fisher University pharmacy students in pediatric practice experiences. He has also served as a preceptor and mentor for pharmacy residents, including PGY-1 and PGY-2 trainees, and has contributed extensively to pediatric pharmacy education, experiential learning, and postgraduate training.
Dr. Hutchinson’s professional interests include pediatric pharmacotherapy, pharmacy education, and curricular and program assessment. His teaching has included topics such as pediatric medication errors, pediatric hypertension, immunizations, epilepsy/status epilepticus, fluid and electrolyte management, parenteral nutrition, ADHD, systemic lupus erythematosus, cystic fibrosis, and otitis media.
