Countdown to Commencement: Kenneth Caminero
Kenneth Caminero left New York City four years ago with his sights set on St. John Fisher College, and today, he is counting down to his 2019 Commencement. Caminero was nominated for the Countdown to Commencement series by Tara Preteroti, assistant director of the College’s Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP).
Originally an accounting major, Caminero switched to management so he could experience all facets of the business curriculum. He has been an involved member of the campus community in the Student Government Association, serving as president of the Latino Student Union and vice president of the Pool Club, and was active in the Black Student Union, Asian Student Union, and Unity Council. He also served as a student ambassador.
“Kenneth is a natural leader. He is friendly, outgoing, and always willing to help others,” said Preteroti. “He enjoys helping younger students and making sure they can access and make the most of their college experience.”
His advice to incoming Fisher students?
“If you want to create a social change, the way you do it is with others who really propel you. If you want to see a change, you want to be a part of the change.”
