Introducing the E-Board of SGA

With the fall semester in full swing, Fisher News Highlights caught up with the Executive Board of the Student Government Association (SGA) to learn what they hope to accomplish this year, and how they serve Fisher students.

As president of SGA, Brooke Chase ’26 leads the Executive Board and Senate meetings, serves as an ex-officio member of the University’s Board of Trustees, and attends Faculty Assembly meetings as the SGA delegate.

Chase has two main goals this year.

“First, I want to empower senators to take on more personal initiatives,” she said. “Second, I want to increase the overall awareness of SGA and what we can offer to students.”

Chase is majoring in marketing and is a member of the Honors program. She also serves on the School of Business’ Dean’s Student Advisory Council, Honors Student Advisory Board, and works as a student ambassador in the Office of Admissions.

Vice President Emily Tollar ’25 is an inclusive childhood education major with a concentration in English. Her role is to provide support for the Executive Board and serve as chair of the Organizational Review Committee (ORC). The committee is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of the organization, coordinating training opportunities, assisting senators with the bill-writing process, and overseeing events focused on senator visibility and understanding constituent needs.

“This year, I hope to continue to find ways to connect students with our senators so that we can have even more voices heard,” Tollar said, adding that she recommends students attend SGA’s town hall meetings to learn more about their efforts.

In addition to Tollar’s work with SGA, she is a member of the Honors program and is a Service Scholar.

Mady Marsh ’26 is the chief of staff for SGA. In her role, she oversees The Nest and supply closet, takes meeting minutes, keeps track of attendance and voting, and works on a variety of initiatives.

“I want to make sure that everyone knows they have a voice and can go to SGA to make sure it is heard,” she said.

Marsh is a double major in inclusive childhood education and American studies, and is involved in Teddi and TESA.

The director of financial affairs position for SGA is held by Andrew Ortolani ’25, a criminology and criminal justice major with a minor in media and communication. Ortolani’s role is to ensure all SGA expenses are accounted for through bookkeeping and budgeting of payments. He also helps assist SGA recognized and affiliated clubs with any financial questions and needs they may have throughout the school year.

“I hope we are able to adequately work with clubs and the student body to support them with all their needs in the best way we can,” Ortolani said. “My goal is to make everyone feel like there is a resource for them if they need it.”

Ortolani is an active member of campus as he is involved with the Student Activities Board, Orientation Team, and Great Beginnings team.

Sport management major Ryan Rothberg ’27 is the director of student life and organizations. His role is to voice any concerns for student life and any student-led club or organization. He also chairs two other committees, the SGA Club Review Board and the SGA Student Affairs Committee.

“This year, I am looking to expand on different ways that clubs can fundraise money to use for their events,” he said. “Additionally, I am looking to make guidelines from the Club Handbook more well known to not just club leaders, but to club members as a whole.”

Rothberg is also a member of the Sport Management Club, head equipment manager for Club Hockey, and a student ambassador in the Office of Admissions.

Dan Liucci ’26 is the director of marketing and communications. In his role he serves as the vice chair of the Elections Committee and helps different departments and clubs create marketing campaigns including graphic designs and social media posts.

Liucci hopes his efforts will boost attendance at events, along with reaching more of the student body. 

Liucci majors in accounting and corporate finance with a minor in marketing and media and communication. He is also a member of the Accounting Club.

SGA meets at 7 p.m. every Tuesday in the Elaine Wilson Formal Lounge. All are welcome to attend.
