Washington Tapped for State Law Enforcement Agency Accreditation Council

On Wednesday, Sept. 21, Dr. Marlowe V.N. Washington, senior diversity officer at St. John Fisher University was appointed by Governor Hochul to serve on the New York State Law Enforcement Agency Accreditation Council.
The Council meets quarterly to consider and adopt accreditation standards for law enforcement agencies in New York and to review and approve applications from police agencies for accreditation by the Council.
The Accreditation Council consists of 17 members, all appointed by the Governor. After an eight-month vetting process, Washington was sworn into office to begin a two-year term ending in September 2024.
In early October, Washington was also appointed to the Hillside Board of Governors.
