
10/12/2020 - Since summer, a small, passionate group of students, faculty, and staff has been engaging in ongoing discussions around topics of racial equity, social justice, diversity, and inclusion.

10/12/2020 - Senior Jacob Vinch, economics major with minors in mathematics and finance, spent his summer conducting research with Dr. Ben Niu, associate professor in the Economics Department, examining the factors that influenced the decisions to enact the state-wide stay-at-home orders as a response to COVID-19.

10/11/2020 - Through the month of October, white and red flags line LeChase Commons in an effort to raise awareness of domestic violence. An initiative of the College’s Peer Support Team, the red flags represent unhealthy relationships and the white display bystander intervention messages.

10/10/2020 - During National Pharmacy Month, students, residents, and faculty members from the Wegmans School of Pharmacy are demonstrating their commitment to the community by volunteering at a mobile health clinic through Rochester Regional Health, Common Ground Health, and InterVol.

10/09/2020 - St. John Fisher College has formally joined the United Way’s 21-Day Equity Challenge, an effort to develop a deeper understanding of how inequity and racism affect individuals and the community. Fisher is among more than 100 organizations participating in the Challenge, which runs from Friday, Oct. 23 through Friday, Nov. 20.

10/09/2020 - This month, accounting students in Dr. Omar Watt’s Intermediate Accounting course set aside their spreadsheets and financial statements to develop the skills needed to successfully interview for an internship during the first-ever Accounting Perfect Pitch competition.

10/08/2020 - This week, College News’ #ClubCorner features the Black Student Union. Also known as BSU, this club gives people of color a voice at Fisher, and aims to educate the campus community about the experience of being a black student on the Fisher campus. BSU supports black students, affirms their culture, and offers a safe space for students to share their views and opinions, as well as voice changes they want to see implemented on campus.

10/08/2020 - This fall’s Cavanaugh Reading Series, hosted by the St. John Fisher College English Department, will feature author Sejal Shah.

10/07/2020 - This fall, the 2020-2021 Student Government Association (SGA) Executive Board welcomes new members into key positions. The new executive board is ready to work with the College’s student organizations to foster openness and inclusion, and create engaging campus events.

10/06/2020 - The PRIMA Group, St. John Fisher College’s student-run integrated advertising, public relations, and marketing firm, will host a panel discussion on diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
