Kristi Bradley ’09
Director of Distribution, Marriott International
While at Fisher, Kristi Bradley studied sport management and engaged in networking opportunities that became instrumental in her journey. Bradley’s experience while immersed in a supportive environment with alumni connections was pivotal in shaping her goals for the future. “Thanks to speakers and alumni connections, I saw the possibilities of who I could be,” she shared. “I was inspired to set goals, to make waves, and create a life for myself that I was proud of.”
Reflecting on her time at Fisher, she says that her path has been a “journey of discovery.” Starting in the golf event industry, she leveraged her degree and internships to secure her first full-time job. She soon transitioned into the hospitality industry with Marriott International, and today she manages the global relationship with Expedia.
She encourages other sport management students to make connections and get involved to make the most of their Fisher education. “If you're looking for a department that will help you foster relationships that will take you to your first job, you're in the right place. The skills and relationships are invaluable and maintained long after you graduate.”
Brandon Caryl ’18
Brandon Caryl ’18 spent summer 2017 as an intern with the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA), the largest junior golf association in the world.
With AJGA, Caryl was responsible for aiding the overall operation at tournament sites throughout the east coast, including Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and New Jersey.
The Fairport native traveled more than 14,000 miles during his AJGA internship, helping to make 14 different events a success. His duties included setup and break down of tournaments, corporate sponsorship activation, event operations, and coordination of tournament volunteers.
Becca Davis ’18
Sponsorship Assistant, Boston Red Sox
Becca Davis ’18 took full advantage of the opportunity to work for her dream organization, the Boston Red Sox. Since January 2018, Becca has served as a sponsor services assistant, fulfilling sponsorship contracts, maintaining relationships with corporate clients, and providing support for the client services department. Today, she continues on with the Red Sox organization as a sponsorship assistant, maintaining sponsor relationships by providing personable service, tour and scoreboard messages, and processing and selling tickets.
Prior to landing the position, Becca completed internships with the Amsterdam Mohawks and the Rochester Red Wings. She said all of her internship experiences helped solidify her passion for the game of baseball.
“This has been a tremendous learning experience for me,” said Becca. “I work with a great group of people and I get to go to work at Fenway Park everyday.”
Emma Kilmer ’18
Emma Kilmer ’18 spent her final semester at Fisher interning with her favorite professional sports team, the Pittsburgh Penguins. As a member of the Communications Department, Kilmer served as a media relations intern for the second half of the 2017-18 season and playoffs.
She was responsible for creating graphics for the team’s official social media accounts, writing game notes, recording player/coach interviews, managing the press box, and issuing media credentials.
“I’ve known for a while now that I want to work in communications in hockey, and this definitely confirmed that this is the right path for me. I loved every single job responsibility I had during my internship,” said Kilmer. “I learned so much in my four months in Pittsburgh.It was such an incredible experience.”
