ROTC at Fisher
Earn four years of active-duty military training while working toward your university degree through the Army, Air Force, or Navy ROTC programs at Fisher.
Through the Rochester Area Colleges (RAC) consortium, St. John Fisher University students in all academic disciplines are eligible to participate in Army, Air Force, or Navy scholarship programs. These in-college programs are known collectively as the Reserve Officer Training Corps, or ROTC.
If you are awarded an ROTC scholarship, you are entitled to additional benefits, including non-taxable monthly stipends, money for books, and paid training. Four-, three-, and two-year scholarships are available.
Army ROTC
Army ROTC training normally involves one elective class and lab each semester, along with the requisite physical training and field training exercises. Coursework during the first two years is part of the program’s basic course, which revolves around basic military skills and the fundamentals of leadership. You can take Army ROTC Basic Courses without a military commitment.
Over your final two years of college, you may participate in the Army ROTC Advanced Course, where you will hone your leadership skills. As with the basic course, ROTC classes are taken each semester as electives. You are also required to undergo physical training, field training, and a summer leadership camp. Entering the Advanced Course requires a commitment to serve as an officer in the United States Army after you graduate.
All successful ROTC graduates are guaranteed active duty leadership experience as Army officers, in the Army, the Army Reserve, or Army National Guard.

Air Force ROTC (AFROTC)
AFROTC training is made up of two main phases. The first two years of your time in the program center on a general military excellence course. Field training, which occurs during the summer following your sophomore year, also is required for you to advance to the next level of the program. You may take general military course without obligation to enlist in the Air Force or Air Force Reserve.
Your final two years of college include an experiential "professional officer course," which focuses on group discussions, presentations, and leadership laboratories. Enrollment in this course automatically confers upon you enlisted status in the Air Force Reserve.
All successful AFROTC graduates are guaranteed active duty leadership experience as officers, in the U.S. Air Force.

NROTC Midshipmen take part in numerous activities including naval science classes, physical training, community service, professional and leadership training, and more.
