Religious Studies
Fisher was founded on the Basilian principles of “goodness, discipline, and knowledge.” Explore this heritage and other faith-based histories and traditions by enrolling in Fisher’s religious studies program.
As a religious studies major, you will develop religious literacy in five main areas:
- Religious Experience: Exploring beliefs and practices related to human experiences of the sacred.
- Catholic Heritage: Examining the history and sources of Roman Catholic theology and community.
- Religious Traditions: Study the teachings, artistic expressions, and practices of various traditions.
- Sacred Scriptures: Probe the sacred texts of Eastern, Western, and Indigenous traditions.
- Ethics: Consider how religion informs and shapes values and moral decision-making.
Many religious studies majors choose to add a second major in a related field.
Program Overview
The B.S. in religious studies requires 10 courses, selected in consultation with a departmental faculty advisor, for a total of 30 credits.
The religious studies curriculum culminates with a senior project. You may choose to write an academic research paper or propose and complete a community project with a report. You will present your work before faculty and an audience of peers within the program.
