Nursing Admissions Requirements
First-Year Admissions
If you will be entering college directly from high school or if you have never attended college, please follow the application instructions for Freshman Admissions.
Note: If you are currently enrolled at Fisher as a freshman nursing major, refer to the specific information regarding admissions to the junior nursing clinical semester.
Transfer Admissions
If you have completed all, or some, of the liberal arts and sciences courses at another accredited college or university with a grade of "C" or higher, a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above, and a GPA of 2.4 or higher in the seven science prerequisites, you must first apply for admission through Transfer Admissions. Policies and procedures applicable to the various types of transfer students/credits are explained in the Undergraduate Catalog.
Like all students, you must apply and meet the admission requirements for the Wegmans School of Nursing to begin your clinical year. Individual transcript analysis, as well as counseling regarding meeting Core Requirements and nursing prerequisites, is available through Transfer Admissions.
Note: If you are declaring a nursing major after enrolling at Fisher or if you are transferring to Fisher as a nursing major, refer to the specific information regarding admissions to the junior nursing clinical semester.
Required Courses in Liberal Arts and Sciences
As a transfer student, you must take an introductory ethics or bioethics course, such as PHIL 124C, PHIL 250C, REST 130, 284D, or 387D. Before beginning the clinical year as a junior, you must earn a "C" or higher in each of the required Nursing prerequisite courses and a prerequisite GPA of 2.4 or higher including all attempts at these seven courses: Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Nutrition, Statistics, and Development Across the Lifespan. Unless you hold a baccalaureate or higher degree in another field, you must meet Core Requirements to fulfill graduation requirements for a B.S. in nursing.
