The program also aims to create a skilled preceptor and classroom teacher of pharmacy students from the Wegmans School of Pharmacy. The residency features four longitudinal experiences at the Riedman Health Center, the Sands-Constellation Heart Institute, and the Greater Rochester Independent Practice Association.
PGY 2 Infectious Disease Residency, St. Joseph's Health
Residency Program Director: Dr. Lisa Avery
The Infectious Diseases Residency at St. Joseph's Health prepares residents with the skills necessary to provide antibiotic stewardship across the continuum of care. In addition to developing clinical expertise in infectious diseases, the resident is involved in a variety of academic experiences including educator and preceptor training. St. Joseph's Health has an active and innovative antimicrobial stewardship program that not only ensures appropriate antimicrobial use in the inpatient, emergency department, and intensive care settings but also extends into ambulatory care and urgent care environments. Faculty are enthusiastic about teaching providers, patients, and students on the appropriate use of antimicrobials to prevent antimicrobial resistance.
