Learning Spaces

A 21st century education requires learning spaces that facilitate active engagement and movement within and around the classroom environment, as well as technology that supports the student-centered learning activities that faculty hope to promote within their classes.

Learning Space Transformation and Strategic Impact Report

Since the inception of the Learning Space & Technology Strategic Plan [pdf], St. John Fisher University has undergone a systematic transformation of its physical and digital pedagogical environment. In four years, the University has improved one-third of all learning spaces across campus. This work encompasses 24 full-scale renovations, 2 classroom refreshes, and 15 targeted classroom enhancements. This extensive investment in campus infrastructure in a relatively short period of time was made possible through numerous individual donors, foundations, and grant support.

The Learning Space Transformation & Strategic Impact Report [pdf] evaluates these efforts against the three foundational goals identified in 2021 by campus-wide stakeholders. The goals were to modernize classroom infrastructure, expand professional development, and align classroom assignments with teaching strategies. Furthermore, the report highlights the symbiotic relationship between physical space renovation and the iFisher: Next Generation Learning Initiative, collectively advancing the University’s mission to provide a responsive, inclusive, and high-impact learning environment.

Learning Space & Technology Strategic Plan

This plan, created in 2021, was created by campus stakeholders dedicated to revitalizing and enriching Fisher’s learning environment, providing robust facilities for our students, and integrating planning, assessment, and budgeting processes and was aligned with Fisher’s existing strategic plan strategies 1.3, 1.4, 2.4, 5.1, and 5.3 to dramatically enhance teaching and learning at Fisher. It has been a guiding document for the Learning Space Advisory Board and we are proud to have achieved many of the goals it set forth.
