Diversity in the News at Fisher
10/19/2021 - On Wednesday, Oct. 13, members of the campus community gathered for the kick-off of a monthly speaker series called Cardinal Conversations. Approximately 40-50 students and another 10-15 faculty, staff, and community members were in attendance.
10/13/2021 - St. John Fisher College will host Fresh Check Day, a concept created by The Jordan Porco Foundation, to bring the whole campus community together to “check-in” on the mental health and wellness of Fisher students.
08/06/2021 - Gabe Iturbides, director of TRIO Student Support Services at Fisher, was elected to the Board of Directors for the Association for Equality and Excellence in Education (AEEE) as one of three general board members.
05/17/2021 - After a nationwide search, St. John Fisher College has named one of its own as its new senior diversity officer. Dr. Marlowe V.N. Washington, an alumnus of the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. School of Education’s Doctor of Executive Leadership (Ed.D.) program, will officially begin in his role on June 1.
04/19/2021 - More than 1,000 students will graduate from St. John Fisher College during its 67th Commencement celebration, which features a series of in-person School-based ceremonies from Thursday, May 6 through Saturday, May 8.
04/12/2021 - The Muslim Student Alliance, also known as MSA, is a club that aims to address and eliminate the misconceptions of Islam and to unite Muslims and non-Muslims through camaraderie and solidarity. From April 12 through May 12, MSA is shifting its focus to a most important occasion: Ramadan.
02/05/2021 - Rev. Myra Brown, a pastor at Spiritus Christi, an independent Catholic Church based in downtown Rochester, will deliver the keynote address for St. John Fisher College’s Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration.
10/26/2020 - This week, the Office of Multicultural Affairs at St. John Fisher College will host the panel discussion, Racial Restoration.
10/12/2020 - Since summer, a small, passionate group of students, faculty, and staff has been engaging in ongoing discussions around topics of racial equity, social justice, diversity, and inclusion.
10/09/2020 - St. John Fisher College has formally joined the United Way’s 21-Day Equity Challenge, an effort to develop a deeper understanding of how inequity and racism affect individuals and the community. Fisher is among more than 100 organizations participating in the Challenge, which runs from Friday, Oct. 23 through Friday, Nov. 20.
